OBJECTS FOR BURNING (2009)

Objects for Burning is a series of objects carved from pieces of firewood.

By handcarving objects from material that is meant to be consumed by fire, the series raises questions about work, fuel, value, waste, and sacrifice.

The objects are organic and slightly abstracted in shape. Scuffs and small burns are visible on the wood, referencing the lengthy and difficult process that has transformed one disposable object into another disposable object.
