LIVE/WORK HYPERCUBE (2013)

Live/Work is a collaborative, media performance event with French artists group 1024 architecture (Pierre Schneider & Francois Wunschel) in collaboration with Fernando Favier and Vancouver artists Cedric Bomford, Innes Yates, and Reece Terris. Hosted by New Forms Festival and curated by Kate Armstrong and Malcolm Levy for Revised Projects, Live/Work is a manifestation of interdisciplinarity, collaboration and an exploration of the contemporary landscape in relation to changing cultural and economic conditions.

The work begins with the form of a 10 metre cube made from scaffolding and construction materials. In the context of contemporary Vancouver, which is being rapidly transformed into a clashing, difficult pattern of tiny condominiums, the shape of the cube becomes a site for interplay and critique.

Curated by Kate Armstrong and Malcolm Levy for Revised Projects, the work is an independent commission and residency that has been developed over the past 2 years with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, the BC Arts Council, The Consulate General of France in Vancouver, Chris J Grant/Christie Lites, Emily Carr University of Art + Design and the Koerner Foundation. The product of this collaboration is the World Premiere of Hypercube, presented during NFF 13.

1024 Architecture is generously sponsored by the Consulate General of France in Vancouver.
